Activities: Anatomopathological Expertise

Florence Bernex, researcher at UM and veterinary pathologist, leads the RHEM anatomopathology unit and provides expertise in animal anatomopathology.

This expertise goes beyond simple morphological analysis.

Our expertise

  • integrated expertise from the project design stage,
  • microscopic lesion analysis expertise on cellular or tissue samples from cytopunctures or on fixed tissues,
  • advisory and training activities at all stages, from autopsy to microscopic analysis:
    • (i) on macroscopic lesion analysis and sampling to be performed,
    • (ii) on staining techniques to highlight specific structures, agents, or metabolites,
    • (iii) on the choice of immunolabeling or in situ hybridization techniques,
    • (iv) slide analysis (materials, software assistance, methodology, and selection of critical points to analyze).
  • selection of regions of interest to create a tissue microarray (TMA) block,
  • analysis of images taken with a transmission or scanning electron microscope.
